It’s been a little while since I’ve written a blog post, and I thought I would share where Carmel Lorraine Designs is heading.
When I started this business in 2024, my goal was to become a surface pattern designer. Since then, I’ve learned a great deal about design, running a small business, and the many directions creativity can take.
Over time, I have been creating more artwork. I will be offering these as original pieces, and also as prints.
That doesn’t mean I’m leaving surface pattern design behind. My collections will continue to be available for licensing, and I hope they’ll find homes on fabrics, stationery, homewares and other thoughtfully made products. It’s simply that my focus will now be on creating artwork, with some of those pieces later becoming prints or surface pattern designs.
As I’ve considered the future of Carmel Lorraine Designs, I’ve also spent time thinking about the kind of business I want to build. I want it to be known not only for beautiful artwork, but also for the values behind it.
I hope to work with businesses that care about people, act with integrity, and value kindness, respect, and responsible practices. As my business grows, I hope every relationship reflects the values that matter most to me—integrity, compassion, thoughtful creativity, and creating work that brings beauty and positivity into everyday life.
The subjects I return to again and again are the simple things that often go unnoticed—Australian plants, gardens, and the quiet beauty found in everyday life.
Whether you’ve been here from the beginning or have only recently discovered Carmel Lorraine Designs, I’m truly grateful for your encouragement and support.
I’m looking forward to sharing more artwork with you over the coming months, I hope you’ll enjoy this next chapter as much as I will.
